PJ’s playing host to pinball tourney Saturday

ENID, Okla. — Be ready to take shelter this weekend from the Tiltnado Pinball Tournament set for Saturday at PJ’s.

Organizer Timothy Larsen said nine machines will be set to free play for Tiltnado 2: The Aftermath.

Entry is $5, with registration beginning at 11 a.m. at PJ’s, 220 N. Washington. Qualifying rounds will begin at noon and registration closes at 1 p.m.

Larsen said nine machines, dating from 1979 to 2013, will be used for the tournament, which is sanctioned by the National Flipper Pinball Association for those with international rankings.

Entrants will play a single game on six different machines, with those who qualify moving to a double elimination tournament. Larsen said the software used to run the tournament will auto-assign players to tables.

Last week, Larsen said more than 20 people already had confirmed they were attending the tournament. He said players from Wichita, Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Stillwater also have confirmed they will be playing this weekend in Enid. There are no age restrictions on who can enter. As long as a player can reach the flippers, they can play.

“For your five bucks, you’re guaranteed at least eight games of pinball,” he said. “Oklahoma has some great players. It’s going to be fun.”

Larsen said he’s participated in tournaments in Oklahoma City and he and some friends hosted the first Tiltnado in Enid last year.

“We had out first tournament just to try it and figure out how to run a tournament,” he said. “It was a blast.”
